New Works, New Voices, New Opportunities

Barking Legs Theater proudly celebrated the three local artists selected for Spring 2024 WORKS IN PROCESS: Artists' New Works Residency! These three artists created new pieces of performance art for presentation at Barking Legs in April 2024.

STEPHANIE HONG

Stephanie is a Taiwanese-American actor and writer based in Chattanooga, TN. Partial to comedy dramas (with an emphasis on the comedy!), her written work often weaves together heartbreak and humor, especially in the aftermath of trauma. When she's not working, she can usually be found thrifting more clothes she doesn't need, playing strategic board games with her siblings, or snuggling the cutest cat in existence. JEFF GREENSPAN

Jeff Greenspan is a native New York comic now living in Chattanooga. Before moving south, Jeff wrote for filmmaker Michael Moore and performed regularly at StandUp NY and Gotham Comedy Club. His standup has appeared on Netflix and he’s performed at the AlaskaB4UDie and Limestone Comedy festivals. He produced and hosted The Carpetbagger’s Comedy Night, a bi-weekly showcase where NYC comics joined Southeast favorites. The show regularly drew sold-out audiences until it closed on its 3rd anniversary in October 2023.Jeff’s also been behind many comedic (and questionably legal) art and activism projects shared by millions online and covered widely by the press.

JASON TINNEY

Jason Tinney is an author, playwright, actor, director, musician and storyteller. His story collections include Ripple Meets the Deep — named Best Book by Baltimore Magazine in 2015 — Bluebird, and Louise Paris and Other Waltzes. In 2020, Jason was awarded Honorable Mention for Southern Lit Alliance’s Local Distinguished Author Award. As an actor, Jason has appeared in over 50 stage productions throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. Jason and Holly Morse-Ellington co-authored the play and music for 50 Miles Away, winner of the Frostburg State University Center for Literary Arts One-Act Play Festival 2015. In 2023, he co-founded Next Exit Productions which brought the Tennessee premiere of 50 Miles Away to Barking Legs Theater. He lives in Chattanooga, TN.
