Bubba and the Beast
Step into a fairy tale that traded its glass slippers for steel-toe boots.
Bubba and the Beast is a rowdy, heartfelt, and gloriously off-the-rails theatrical romp from Seed Theatre, taking over Barking Legs Theater on April 17 & 18. Written by comedy legend Bubba Que, this Southern-fried spin on a certain “beauty meets beast” situation introduces us to Bubba—charming, chaotic, and maybe not the hero you’d expect—who stumbles into a cursed world where the Beast isn’t just misunderstood… he's got opinions. And boundaries. And frankly, better emotional intelligence than most people Bubba’s dated.
With music direction by Gordon Inman, the show bounces between toe-tapping numbers and laugh-out-loud moments, all while sneaking in a surprisingly tender story about vulnerability, accountability, and what it actually takes to break a curse (hint: it’s not just “true love’s kiss,” y’all).
Expect big characters, bigger feelings, and a whole lot of playful chaos as Bubba fumbles their way through enchanted objects, emotional breakthroughs, and the uncomfortable realization that the real transformation might need to happen on the inside. Come for the comedy, stay for the heart, and leave with a new favorite version of a story you thought you already knew. 🌱
Bubba and the Beast contains adult humor and themes, including sexual references, suggestive language, sexual imagery, and innuendo presented in a comedic and theatrical context. The production also includes mature discussions around relationships, identity, and personal growth. This show is recommended for adult audiences (18+)
