Ann Law

In 1983, while dancing in Miami, Florida, Ann Law tore her right calf muscle. With the help of the sports medicine doctor from the Miami Dolphins, she slowly regained her flexibility. This injury led her to experiencing Joe Pilates’ work for the first time. Fifteen years later, while struggling with old dance injuries and the minor aches and pains of getting older, Ann returned to the exercise methods of Joseph Pilates, studying his work at the Atlanta Ballet Studio. It was there that she decided to continue investigating this amazing approach to re-educating the body by becoming a certified Pilates’ instructor under the guidance of Joe Pilates’ last disciple, Romana Kryzanowska. Ann is also certified in the Pink Ribbon Program, a post-operative workout for enhancing recovery based upon Pilates.

As owner of Pilates at Barking Legs, Ann has invested its instructors who continue to grow inside Pilates' specific method. These instructors, Kim and Bobbie (see below), have distinct talents, allowing them to work with a diverse clientele. Their mission is to help every client develop body awareness and reach a more active, positive and physical state of being. The focus of Pilates at Barking Legs has always been about making connections so that everyone can take a new physical direction in life!

Kim Butters

Kim has been an AFAA certified Aerobics Instructor and Personal Trainer working in Marion County since 2001. While working as a Physical Therapy tech, she began studying the Pilates Method at Barking Legs with Colleen Carboni and Ann Law in September of 2002.

“I knew after the very first class that I wanted to become an instructor! I was fascinated by the concept of working internally rather than just working external muscles. I immediately saw it’s potential to help people with muscular problems, disease and injury recovery and weight loss.”

She received her instructor certification in July 2005 and is thrilled to be part of the Barking Legs staff. Although always active with hiking and biking, Kim has been considerably overweight in the past and has had to work very hard to get into shape and stay fit.

“My main reason for going into the fitness work and Pilates in particular is to encourage people struggling with weight, age and other physical limitations that they can achieve a level of health and fitness that will improve their everyday lives. Pilates can change anyone’s life for the better.”

Bobbi Moister

Bobbi is a lifelong fitness enthusiast who developed a passion for Pilates after beginning classes at Barking Legs two years ago. In September 2008, she completed a 600-hour Pilates Certification Program, and she continues to learn and grow in her practice, attending teacher training workshops in Atlanta on the weekends.

Bobbi began taking Pilates as a way to heal her lower back pain from years of training for marathons in NYC and PA. Of her Pilates experience, Bobbie exclaims: "I have completely changed my body and I am in the best shape of my life!", which is really saying something, as she has been jogging, biking and working out with personal trainers for the last 30 years!

Bobbie lends her endless energy and enthusiasm for Pilates to our studio, and her personal goal and service is to help her clients achieve their personal fitness goals!

She currently teaches Beginning and Intermediate mat classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Sundays, and she is always available for private or duets.
