Lyrical Jazz I

Lyrical Jazz is an expressive style of dance that uses jazz and modern-based movement to interpret music and express emotions. This class opens with a Pilates-based core conditioning warm-up, and progresses to an exploration of musicality, fluidity, and transition in movement. All dancers are welcome.

Lyrical Jazz II
Monday 5:30 - 6:45 pm

For students who have completed Lyrical Jazz I, Cornelius will continue to build and extend their dance knowledge. Students with prior jazz training are encouraged to join this course as well. Movement combinations and jazz dances progressively become more difficult and challenging. This is a great dance class for students who want to become more efficient dancers.

American Tribal Style Belly Dance I

Introducing women to an interpretive series of movements, this class offers basic training in American Tribal-style belly dancing, and an appreciation of Middle Eastern dance and rhythms. Emphasis on group improvisations and the theory that dance is community-based.

Building on the skills acquired in ATS I, Mindy continues to train and condition your body, mind, and spirit in amazing ways. For women only, who have prior experience in American Tribal Style belly dancing.

Hip Hop I

Exploring street dance styles primarily through the music of hip hop, this class takes students from breakdancing in the 1970s into the new styles of hip hop in the 1990s. Hip hop dancing has evolved in many different directions that accents full body movement, personal interpretation, and a wide variety of mixed styles.

Hip Hop II
Monday 7:00 - 8:15 pm

Taking everything that was learned in Hip Hop I, Cornelius pushes students further into complex dance movements and other styles of Hip Hop. Prior experience of Hip Hop I is highly recommended as this class continues to expand one’s knowledge and skill at Hip Hop. Join this class for a truly great workout as well.

African Drumming
I

Instructor: Kofi Mawuko
Master drummer and prolific performer Kofi Mawuko presents his popular African Drumming class. Learn basic African drumming techniques and rhythms, then proceed to the complex polyrhythms of the music of West Africa. Bring your own Ashiko or Djembe if you have one. Limited drums are available for use, or you may purchase one from the instructor.

African Drumming II

Kofi Mawuko, master drummer from Ghana, progresses students further in their drumming skills and knowledge in this course. Prior instruction in African Drumming I or similar training is required as students continue to build on their skills.
